I was talking with a friend about APIs the other day. He is learning Android development and was describing how apps fetch data from different services. He could not quite give me the full definition, but he understood how it worked in practice. That conversation stuck with me. I got home and decided I wanted to learn a little about APIs myself, because I already knew how to build static websites and manage databases, and being able to fetch data through an API would finally connect the dots. A short search later, Keploy was not hard to find.

Connecting the Dots From Static Sites to Live Data

If you have only built static pages and worked with databases, APIs are the missing piece between the two. A static site shows fixed content. A database stores your data. An API is what lets a page request live data on demand and render it, which is how modern apps feel dynamic. That gap was exactly what I wanted to close, and the fellowship was aimed right at it.

Meeting the DevRels and Starting Out

Ankit, Hardik, Nishant, and Sejal were our DevRels, and they were going to teach us how to automate the tedious work involved in API testing. I did not know much about APIs going in, but they made it clear that would not be a problem. The stated prerequisite was nothing at all, because they were going to teach everything from scratch, including how to build and use APIs in the first place.

There were two other reasons I was sold. The fellowship offered a real opportunity to contribute to open-source software, and there were goodies on the table too. Free stuff never hurts. Ankit walked us through the curriculum and how much time we would need to commit, and everyone came across as friendly and welcoming.

The Sessions Got Me Hooked

The first day was all introductions, and the class was over before I knew it. I had been worried about the time commitment, but after that first session it stopped feeling like a burden. It was intriguing enough that I was hooked, and I knew right then that I would give the fellowship my full effort.

Every day brought something new and something exciting. The smaller study groups meant more interaction, and the session activities kept everyone engaged rather than passive. The DevRels were patient and supportive, helping each person through their specific problems. The community support across different platforms made everything easier, and the extra doubt-solving sessions were genuinely helpful when something did not click the first time.

The Journey Has Only Begun

I am looking forward to learning more from the people in this community and to contributing something of my own back to it. If automating the repetitive parts of API testing is what drew you in too, this is a good place to start. The journey has only begun.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any prerequisites to join the Keploy API Fellowship?

No. The program is designed to teach everything from scratch, including how to build and use APIs, so you can start even if you have never worked with an API before.

How much time does the fellowship require?

It asks for a daily commitment across the sessions, but participants generally find the load manageable once they start. The sessions are short and engaging rather than long lectures.

Does the fellowship involve open source?

Yes. One of its draws is the opportunity to contribute to open-source software, alongside learning API fundamentals and testing.

What makes the sessions effective?

Smaller study groups, interactive activities, patient DevRel support, and extra doubt-solving sessions combine to keep participants engaged and unblocked throughout the program.
